Masha/Sasha: A perfect match

Sasha Vujacic and Maria SharapovaNot exactly new news, but worth mentioning that 26-year old Los Angeles Laker guard Sasha Vujacic and three-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova (Masha) are getting hitched.

After earning two championships with the Lakers, the #18-wearing guard, knows a thing or two about rings. According to a jewelry expert contacted by Us Weekly, the massive diamond ring believed to cost $250,000.

The ring cradles a center stone that appears to be a cushion-cut diamond of about seven to eight carats on a thick, split-shank platinum band.

The Slovenian-born Vujacic popped the question Oct. 19 to the 23-year old Russian beauty at his Manhattan Beach, Calif., home on the one-year anniversary of their first meeting.

No wedding date has been announced. but given that Sasha’s season in Los Angeles can last until mid-June, a post-Wimbledon date is a possibility.

Sharapova won her first major title at Wimbledon in 2004, when she was 17. She went on to win the 2006 U.S. Open and 2008 Australian Open and also reached No. 1 in the WTA rankings.

After shoulder surgery and an elbow injury forced her to miss time the past two seasons, Sharapova is currently ranked 18th.

“As two pro athletes — in different sports — we both understand what the other is doing and going through, and what it takes to do well in what we do,” Sasha told NBA Fan House. “She’s working hard. I’m working hard. It’s good together.”

The ridiculously tall super couple will undoubtedly have athletic children. Question is – will the kids  play tennis or basketball?  Congrats to both!
