One of the breakout buzz brands of the year in 2007, project BLUE united six different companies, including Billabong, Reef, O’Neill, Nixon, Electric Visual and DAKINE, to produce special limited edition product under the project BLUE initiative. A portion of proceeds from the sales of each project BLUE item is then donated to the Surfrider Foundation to assist them in their efforts to protect and preserve coastal and marine environments.
“This industry-wide campaign is an on-ramp to millions of consumers and thousands of retailers to support environmental initiatives launched by the Surfrider Foundation,” says Vipe Desai, Founder of project BLUE and President of Propaganda Headquarters, Inc. “This is great opportunity for retailers to carry great sellable product and help the planet at the same time.”
Unfortunately we didn’t see much gear for the gals, but it’s a great idea along the lines of Bono’s RED campaign. Maybe they’ll add some BLUE designs for us in the near future.
