The women’s national soccer team is back on the field this week, getting ready to play a friendly against Canada. It’s their first training session since the FIFA Women’s World Cup and they’re excited to play at Livestrong Stadium, home of the MLS’ Sporting Kansas City.
There are lots of soccer fans in KC – and one super fan appears to be striker C.J. Sapong who nervously approached WNT goalkeeper and “Dancing With The Stars” contestant Hope Solo in order to recite an original poem/rap he wrote. Although the rookie player had to take two, his rap seemed to impress Solo who blushed during the performance.
Sapong made his professional debut six months ago in Kansas City’s opening game of the 2011 MLS season where he scored his first professional goal after just two minutes of the game. And while he clearly scored points with Solo, the dude shouldn’t quit his day job.
Hope Solo, Hope Solo
Don’t think I’m loco
But it’s a cold day
You could use some hot cocoa.
If angels really do exist
then girl you are the proof.
Hope Solo, Hope Solo.
Can you make my dream come true?
There are no beaches in KC.
But a hug from you will do.
Solo not only gave the chivalrous Sapong a hug but a kiss on the cheek as well. His teammates may never let him forget the stunt but it was probably worth it. Even if Solo doesn’t go for him, he won a lot of female fans for his sweet performance (now nearly 125,000 views on YouTube).
