Gozzip Girl

Gozzip Girl

No, not that Gossip Girl. While GG is on summer hiatus from TV, it has become clear that females have taken over as the stars in thoroughbred racing.

The latest filly to strut her stuff is Gozzip Girl, a 3-year-old who overwhelmed a 14-horse international field in the Grade I $700,000 American Oaks on Sunday at Hollywood Park.

Gozzip Girl, ridden by Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux, shifted gears in the stretch and unleashed an explosive finishing kick for a decisive 3 1/4 -length victory over Well Monied, completing the 1 1/4 miles on the turf in 2:00.22.

The victory was the first in a Grade I race for Gozzip Girl, a Kentucky-bred daughter of Dynaformer.

She won the Grade II Sands Point at Belmont on the turf in her last start and has won on dirt and synthetic surfaces in scoring her fifth victory in eight lifetime starts.

Gozzip Girl joins the 3-year-old filly Rachel Alexandra and the 5-year-old unbeaten mare Zenyatta as part of a trio of exceptional females in training. A fourth outstanding filly, Life Is Sweet, figures to be the favorite in Saturday’s Grade I $700,000 Hollywood Gold Cup at 1 1/4 miles on the Cushion Track.

Be sure to keep your eye on all these girls. xoxo

Real Life Gossip Girl Coming to Bravo

Gossip GirlGuess it was just a matter of time. The Bravo network is planning a reality show about private school kids in Manhattan. It’s Gossip Girl for those who prefer it straight from the bottle!

Bravo is notorious for producing docudramas about rich and not-so-famous characters, including the Real Housewives franchise and Millionaire Matchmaker.

Bravo ran Webisodes featuring the children of the Real Housewives of Orange County beginning with that show’s second cycle. This new show, scheduled to premiere later in the year, is expected to follow the same production footprint.

Both MTV and CBS have previously attempted similar shows, but both networks failed in pushing the series into production. Might be because filming minors is inherently a bad idea.

What do you think? Pretty hot or pretty stupid?

Guerilla Gossip Girl stumps for Nike?

A recent video featuring GG star Taylor Momsen (and a stunt double?) pulling some very slick moves on the paparazzi may or may not be part of an underground campaign by Nike. Is L’il J stumping for the sports brand? What do you think?

Nastia LiukinOctober 15, 2008 – What could be cooler than winning five gold medals at the Beijing summer games? How about landing a guest role on the popular TV teen drama “Gossip Girl“?

Olympic all-round gymnastics champion Nastia Liukin, who turns 19 later this month and aspires to do some modeling and acting, has mentioned numerous times that her fave TV show is GG.  She found herself sitting next to the show’s producers at a restaurant in Los Angeles and voila, they contacted her management the following day and offered her a guest spot.

According to Reuters, Liukin’s not sure if her role will go beyond the one episode but she is looking forward to playing a character on the hit show that depicts the lives of rich young teens in New York City. Filming is scheduled to take place Oct. 21.

Liukin’s guest spot follows fellow gymnast Shawn Johnson’s cameo appearance in the season finale of “The Secret Life of an American Teenager.” Playing herself, Johnson, 16, got a chance to flirt with “Ricky” in the school hallway.

Oh, and if getting cast in “Gossip Girl” wasn’t enough, Liukin was also honored last night as the Women’s Sports Foundation’s Individual Sportswoman of the Year.

Best Frenemies – relationship stats

January 7, 2008 by admin

We see frenemies everywhere – there’s Paris & Nicole and former roommates Lauren & Heidi on The Hills. Think America’s Next Top Model or The Bachelor. If you read (or watch) Gossip Girls, best frenemies Blair and Serena epitomize this kind of relationship.

Do you remember the scene in the movie Mean Girls in which the most popular girl finds out that a friend who now is a fast-rising social rival plans to throw a party without inviting her. “Who does she think she is?”  sniffs the suddenly-threatened clique leader “I, like, ‘invented’ her.”

What, exactly, is a frenemy? It’s a friend whose words or actions bring you down (whether intentional or not); someone you like (much of the time) and a person with whom you’re invested emotionally. But there is usually also some competition, envy and a bit of toxicity mixed in. It’s a love-hate relationship.
