Prez Picks Baylor to Win NCAA Women’s Basketball Title

If the Baylor Bears win the NCAA women’s basketball title, President Barack Obama will have picked the tournament champion for the second time in three years.

In his annual women’s bracket, selected today in the Presidential Library, Obama predicts Baylor will beat Notre Dame in the championship game.

Obama revealed that his daughter Sasha inherited his basketball gene and is developing into quite a player. He’s looking forward to watching some of the games with her. Obama thinks that Lady Bears center Brittney Griner will be the star of the tournament.

When ESPN analyst Doris Burke asked whether he would play against Griner in a pick-up game if Baylor visited the White House, the president replied that she probably would block his shot. Griner is 6-foot-8; Obama is 6-foot-1.

The president’s Final Four included three No. 1 seeds — Baylor, Notre Dame and Connecticut — but he boldly went with third-seeded St. John’s to win the Fresno region, upsetting Stanford in the regional final.

On the men’s side, Obama picked North Carolina as the champion in his tournament bracket. He picked the Tar Heels in 2009 and they lived up to the prediction. This year, he’s going with UNC once again.

Who are your picks for the men’s and women’s winners?
